At the Tea Auction of 27 February, Moray Tea Estate created history when a line of BOP grade obtained an attractive price of Rs. 1,150 per kg., in the Western High Grown category. This line of tea was purchased by Tea Tang Ltd.
It is a significant achievement, as this is the first time any estate owned by Maskeliya Plantations PLC has surpassed the milestone of Rs. 1,000 at the Colombo Tea Auctions in the Western Category. Moray Estate maintains a high standard of manufacture, focused in producing good quality teas.
The estate is ISO 22000 and Rain Forest Alliance certified. The estate has an annual production of 700,000 kilograms.
Maskeliya Plantations comes under the purview of CEO Manoj Pathiraja, who is committed to the manufacture of quality teas. Moray Estate comes under the stewardship of manager Dinu Abeykoon, who has been behind the success of Moray Estate in the recent past.
Eastern Brokers Limited are the Brokers associated with the sale of Moray Estate teas, and comes under the management of Maskeliya Plantations of Richard Pieris Group of Companies.
