The Research and Development Centre for Mathematical Modelling (CM2) of the Department of Mathematics, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka is organising an International Forum for Mathematical Modelling scheduled to be held between 10-21 March 2014, at the University premises.
The conference organised under the German academic exchange partnership program (DAAD) in collaboration with University of Kaiserslautern, the Kathmandu University and Institute of Technology Bandung, Indonesia. The inauguration of the conference will be under the auspices of Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal, and the conference itself will feature leading faculty from universities in Germany, USA, Slovenia, India, Nigeria, Singapore, Nepal and Indonesia presenting over workshops, compact courses and panel discussions.
The organising Chair, Dr. Sanjeewa Fernando, describing the event said that this first of its kind event will mark a special chapter in the history of Sri Lankan Universities where the use of mathematical modelling can be used as a multidisciplinary tool in areas such as financial services, social sciences, engineering, biology and medicine, natural sciences etc, where real world problems will be solved using mathematical concepts and simulation.
In addition the two week long conference will see multiple workshops, a modelling week, panel discussions, a mini conference and the presentation of over 40 research papers published by an international and local faculty.
