High-powered trade and investment delegation to visit Singapore next month

The Sri Lanka-Singapore Business Council (SLSBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will be organising a trade and investment promotion mission to Singapore from 29 July-1 August. This will be the fifth such outward mission to Singapore organised by the SLSBC since 2010.

The mission is planned to coincide with the IE-SBF Seminar on Business Opportunities in Sri Lanka followed by one-to one business meetings organised by the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), supported by International Enterprise (IE) Singapore and in association with the Sri Lankan High Commission in Singapore.

SBF is the Apex Business Chamber in Singapore with over 18,000 members and International Enterprise (IE) Singapore is the Government Agency driving Singapore’s external economy and promoting the overseas growth of Singapore-based enterprises and international trade.The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore, the Acting High Commissioner Wishwanath Aponsu and Minister Commercial Rekha Mallikarachchi have been of significant support in coordinating the arrangements in Singapore for the outward mission. The IE-SBF Sri Lanka Business Seminar will comprise presentations by the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka and International Enterprise, Singapore. The 19-member delegation will be led by SLSBC President Shamil Mendis, Chairman/Managing Director of Spear Global Holdings Ltd. The delegation will comprise Janaka Gunasekera, Deputy Managing Director, A. Baur & Co. Ltd.; Prajeeth Balasubramaniam, Managing Partner, Blue Ocean Ventures Ltd.; Sriyal Dissanayake, Managing Director, Eastern Maritime (Colombo) Ltd.; Amal Rodrigo, Director, Hayleys Free Zone Ltd.; Pradeep Moraes, Director, Indocean Developers Ltd.; Shiluka Goonewardene, Principal – Deal Advisory, KPMG; Andre Fernando, Chairman/Managing Director, MAC Projects Ltd., Fayek Wafa, Director/CEO, MAC Projects Ltd.; H.J.R. Mendis, Managing Director, Prudential Shipping Lines Ltd. and Helanka Vacations Ltd.; Sanath Fernando, CEO, Ridgecrest Group Ltd.; Sam Ahilan, Chairman, SP Matpol and Fiberdust LLC; Jeevan Gnanam, Director, St. Anthony’s Knowledge Services Ltd.; Satheeka Kavisekera, Spear Global Holdings Ltd.; A. Samson C. De Silva, Chairman/Managing Director, S.S. ImpexLtd.; Vish Govindasamy, Group Managing Director, Sunshine Holdings PLC; Venga Yogarajan, CEO/Director, Sunshine Travels; and U.C. Bandaranayake, Director, Valdhue & Walker Ltd. The mission is coordinated by Michelle Fernando, Management Executive, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The delegation will be representing a diverse set of industries including agriculture, aquaculture, aviation, BPO/KPO, food products, warehousing and entrepot services, chemicals, coir based products, consumer products, fertiliser, freight forwarding, hospitality, ICT, investments, logistics infrastructure and solutions, palm oil, pharmaceuticals, plastic manufacturing, real estate, renewable energy, shipping agencies, tea, tourism, venture capital, etc. In addition to the IE-SBF Seminar and related business meetings which is expected to be attended by close to a 100 Singapore companies, the delegation will have the opportunity to participate at a series of meetings with senior officials and members of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Sri Lankan High Commission in Singapore will host the delegates to a networking session with the members of the Singapore Sri Lanka Business Association (SLBA) during the Mission and other special invitees with specific interests in business with Sri Lanka.
