Fire at tourist hotel in Kalpitiya, 40 tourists evacuated

A fire broke out at a tourist hotel in Kalpitiya on Saturday, resulting in 40 foreign tourists being evacuated, according to Police.

Kalpitiya Police and villagers doused the fire, the cause of which is not yet know, and the tourists were transferred to other hotels in the area.

Police stated that the main building and 17 cabanas of the hotel had been gutted by the fire. No casualties were reported.

Police are investigating the incident and have been deployed at the scene to protect the property.
