The members of the High Command of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress held a crucial discussion yesterday at the party headquarters Darusalam regarding the upcoming general election.
Earlier in the day, the leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, Minister Rauff Hakeem, met Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at Sirikotha to discuss their approach to the forthcoming general election.
UNP Minister Kabir Hashim and the senior officials of the UNP also participated in the discussion. The sources said the discussion between the UNP and Sri Lanka Muslim Congress was successful.
Minister Hakeem told the media yesterday that his party had decided to contest the elections with the UNP and the party had decided to sign a memorandum of understanding with the UNP soon.
