The Colombo Fort Magistrate Court yesterday once again denied bail to the former monitoring MP of the External Affairs Ministry, Sajin Vass Gunawardena.
The magistrate refused to grant bail to the UPFA parliamentarian when his case was taken up on Tuesday and further remanded him until 21 July.
Gunawardena did not attend the court sessions, citing poor health. The Colombo Fort Magistrate will examine him at the Prison Hospital.
The MP, who was also a coordinating secretary of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has been charged with misusing 22 vehicles allocated to the Presidential Secretariat.
Gunawardena is facing several charges of alleged corruption and fraud during the tenure of the former regime.
