Finance Minister Karunanayake yesterday took a swipe at former President and Kurunegala District MP Mahinda Rajapaksa, saying he was drawing two salaries.
Speaking during the second reading of the budget, Karunanayake said Rajapaksa had drawn both his MP salary and his full pension benefits as the former President since he won a seat in the August parliamentary election.
“Including his pension of Rs.97,000 and a Rs. 50,000 fee for keeping a secretary he withdraws Rs.397,000/- on a monthly basis as a part of his pension benefit. On the other side he continues to enjoy benefits as an MP,” charged Minister Karunanayake.
