The Prime Minister has for the first time been invited to attend the 46th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has been invited to attend the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2016 from 20-23 January with the participation of over 40 heads of state and 2500 economists.
The high-profile meeting brings together some top business leaders, international political leaders, selected intellectuals, and journalists to discuss the most pressing issues facing the world.
The Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters remains the foremost creative force for engaging the world’s top leaders in collaborative activities focused on shaping the global, regional and industry agendas.
This year’s theme of the meeting is ‘Mastering the Fourth Industrial Revolution’.
Some of the other dignitaries and prominent personalities who have been invited include Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, UN High Commissioner of Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussein, Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, and Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu.
Sri Lanka will also hold a roadshow in Davos, from 19-23 January, alongside the WEF annual meeting, Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake said last month.
