A group of minor political party leaders who recently staged a demonstration outside the Opposition Leader’s Office, met with Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan yesterday.
The group had demonstrated against Sampanthan’s alleged forcible entry into a military camp in Kilinochchi last month. Sampanthan had briefed the party leaders on the incident, his office said in a statement. “Party leaders thanked the honorable opposition leader for briefing them on this issue and requested him to organise a visit for them to see the places in North and East where the Military has occupied private lands,” the statement from the Opposition Leader’s Office said.
Sampanthan had assured the politicians that a visit would be organised in the future for them to see the ground situation in both the north and east.
TNA Spokesperson and Parliamentarian M. A. Sumanthiran was also present at the meeting. (DB)
