President Maithripala Sirisena will leave for London on 11 May to attend the Anti-Corruption Summit organised by the British government.
British Prime Minister David Cameron, who will host the landmark international summit in London on 12 May extended an invitation to President Sirisena when the two leaders met at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting held in Malta last year.
The summit, a first of its kind, will bring together world leaders, business and civil society to agree a package of practical steps to expose corruption, punish the perpetrators and support those affected by corruption and drive out the culture of corruption wherever it exists.
The summit will seek to galvanise a global response to tackle corruption. As well as agreeing to a package of actions to tackle corruption across the board, it will deal with issues including corporate secrecy, government transparency, the enforcement of international anti-corruption laws, and the strengthening of international institutions.
The President will also visit India on 13 May on an invitation extended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
