Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlüt Çavusoglu will pay an official visit to Sri Lanka 14-15 June, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
During his visit to Sri Lanka, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavusoglu will be received by President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, and Speaker of the Parliament Karu Jayasuriya.
He will also meet with Minister of Foreign Affairs Mangala Samaraweera, as well as Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickrama.
On this occasion, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu will sign with his counterpart the “Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka on Diplomatic Training, Exchange of Information and Documentation.”
Cabinet last week approved the signing of the MoU. Its objective is to strengthen and consolidate the close and friendly relations between the two countries by developing mutually beneficial cooperation on diplomatic training, the exchange of information and documentation on international law and other academic disciplines that are relevant to the practice of diplomacy and international relations in political, economic, cultural spheres.
This first visit to be paid at Foreign Ministerial level from Turkey to Sri Lanka will provide an opportunity to discuss all aspects of our bilateral relations and cooperation.
