Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will today leave on a two-day official visit to Indonesia, to attend the 12th World Islamic Economic Forum.
The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that for the first time Sri Lanka had been invited to participate in the 12th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF), scheduled to take place from 2-4 August at the Jakarta Convention Centre, in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to make a special address at the Inaugural session of the WIEF.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Prime Minister is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and Maritime Affairs Minister Susi Pudjiastuti.
The Premier will also meet several state leaders including the Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Seri Najith Tun Abdul Razak and Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon. Wickremesinghe will also hold discussions with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jawad al-Anani.
Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe, Minister Kabir Hashim, State Minister A.H.M. Fowzie. Deputy Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe, Prime Minister’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake, Prime Minister’s Additional Secretary Saman Athaudahetti, Head of the Five-Year Plan Arjuna Mahendran and Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Sandra Perera will accompany the Prime Minister.
