ONUR Chairperson visits Keeramalai Housing Project in Jaffna

The Chairperson of the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR), former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has recently visited the Jaffna peninsula and observed the progress in the Keeramalai housing project for resettlement of displaced people.

Former president Kumaratunga during her visits to Jaffna peninsula on Thursday (11) met with the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) Major General Mahesh Senanayake at the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQJ).

During the two-day visit, Kumaratunga visited the Keeramalai Housing Project being constructed by the Security Forces. Jaffna Commander Major General Mahesh Senanayake, who accompanied the former president during her visit, briefed the former president on the ongoing housing project.

He explained the military’s involvement in Reconciliation and National Rebuilding programs and the support being given by the Security Forces for resettlement of displaced people.

Governor of the Northern Province, Reginald Cooray and State Minister of Child Affairs, Vijayakala Maheswaran (MP) also participated during the visit.
