Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake will leave for Pakistan today (25) to participate in the 8th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Finance Ministers Summit to be held in Islamabad on 26 August.
In addition to the SAARC finance ministers, several officials in the finance sectors from the member countries will also participate in the summit.
Several trade issues including the regional cooperation in economic affairs and investment opportunities are top on agenda of the summit 2016. At the same time, the summit will evaluate the set agreements and targets during the previous summit of SAARC Financial Ministers held in Kathmandu Nepal in 2015.
Minister Karunanayake will be accompanied by Finance Ministry Secretary Dr. R.H.S. Samaratunga and a group of representatives from the Foreign Resources Department.
