A top panel comprising politicians, professionals and activists will tackle the status of corruption and malpractice in the country and how they can be reduced, at a forum tomorrow organised by the Colombo University MBA Alumni Association in partnership with the Daily FT.
Titled ‘The Law, Ethics and Compliance: The solution to corruption and malpractice’, the forum will be held at Hotel Galadari from 5.30 p.m.
The expert panel will comprise Bribery Commission Director General Dilrukshi Wickremasinghe, Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva, JVP MP and COPE Chairman Sunil Handunnetti, Transparency International Board member J.C. Weliamuna, Governance consultant Harsha Fernando and good governance activist Chandra Jayaratne.
Weliamuna will speak on the scope of the problem and Wickremasinghe will give her views on the awareness of the problem while Fernando will share insights on the laws relating to fraud and corruption.
Deputy Minister de Silva will speak on the definition of transparency and good governance and MP Handunnetti will emphasise the role of the State and Parliament in combating malpractices. Jayaratne will suggest the best way forward in ensuring a corruption- and malpractice-free country.
