All three restaurants will showcase healthy eating tips at their respective outlets as well. In addition, Healthy Life Clinic plans to host a one-day healthy food preparation demonstration with celebrity chef Mallika Joseph and provide diabetes screening at a discounted price during the diabetes week starting from 14 November.
“Adopting a healthy diet is an essential part of the holistic approach to preventing and reversing type 2 Diabetes. I would like to thank The Sandwich Factory, The Barnesbury and The Fab for coming on board and taking this important step to promote healthy food options in their menus,” commented Dr. Kayathri Periasamy, Consultant Physician – Healthy Life Clinic.
Risk factors that contribute to the onset of diabetes are sedentary lifestyle, family history, obesity and unhealthy eating habits. International Diabetes Federation reveals that Up to 70% of type 2 diabetes cases can be prevented or delayed by adopting healthier lifestyles, equivalent to up to 160 million cases by 2040.
Diabetes causes serious complications in the eyes, feet, nerves, kidney and heart. Screening for these complications must be done in every diabetic person, every year to avoid unnecessary irreversible damage. Screening for eye complications is especially highlighted as this is often neglected due to lack of symptoms.
“It is important to note that one third of persons with diabetes are likely to develop eye damage,” commented Dr. Periasamy.
Screenings for diabetes complications are done routinely at Healthy Life Clinic and can be availed at special prices during the diabetes week.
