A decision on the future of Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake will be taken today, Daily FT learns.
The Party Leaders are scheduled to meet today at 2.00 p.m. in Parliament to decide on the no confidence motion submitted by 32 MPs.
Issues concerning Karunanayake have surfaced it is learnt during a meeting between President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe yesterday as well.
Sources close to Karunanayake denied alleged meeting of President and Premier on Friday as well as reports that Foreign Minister has been asked to resign over allegations of nexus between him and Perpetual Treasuries CEO Arjun Aloysius who is being probed over irregularities concerning trading of Treasury Bonds.
However other political sources claimed if Party Leaders decide to go ahead with the no confidence motion Karunanayake may make a statement in Parliament and step down in a move to facilitate completion of the probe rather than taking any responsibility for the Bond fiasco.
