Due to the curfew order implemented by the Government of Sri Lanka, the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea has closed services until further notice, the Embassy said in a press release.

Considering the prevailing circumstances, the South Korean embassy also released details on action that can be taken by Sri Lankans holding student and employment visas.

Accordingly, a person with a valid student visa (D2/D4 visa ) as well as those holding valid employment visas (E9 visa), who are currently staying in Sri Lanka, can enter South Korea. However, the embassy recommends that valid visa holders contact their respective employers in South Korea in order to ensure the maintenance of their visa.

Upon arrival in South Korea, all passengers are mandated to be quarantined for two weeks. The quarantine facility will cost 100,000 KRW (Approx. Rs. 16000) per day. Passengers authorised by South Korean Authorities can self-quarantine themselves. The embassy also confirmed that Qatar Airways still operates flights to South Korea.

Under the Immigration Act of the Republic of Korea, the Embassy of Republic of Korea in Sri Lanka does not have the authority to extend either the D2/D4 or E9 visa. Those who have inquiries regarding the E9 visa are advised to contact the Bureau of Foreign Employment on the 1989 hotline.
