The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) will conduct a virtual webinar on ‘Budget Highlights 2021 – Tax Proposals and Impact on Business and Economy’ on Monday, 23 November from 1:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. via online zoom platform. The focus of the webinar will be to highlight the important aspects of the Budget 2021 covering the economy and taxation with special emphasis on corporate and personal taxation, VAT and miscellaneous taxes and the impact of new taxes on business and the economy.
The virtual webinar will be inaugurated by the Chief Guest State Minister of Money, Capital Markets and State Enterprise Reforms Ajith Nivard Cabraal, who will deliver the keynote address on the ‘Budget Highlights 2021’. The welcome address will be delivered by CMA – Sri Lanka Founder President Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala. The presentations on ‘Taxation Proposals in Budget 2021’ will be delivered by Ernst & Young Partner Tax Nisthar Sulaiman,
‘Taxation implications on Business and Society’ by KPMG Principal – Tax and Regulatory Suresh Perera, ‘Economic Implication of the Budget Proposals 2021’ by Verité Research Ltd. CEO Dr. Nishan De Mel, and ‘Budget 2021 Impact on Business’ by DSI Samson Group Emeritus Managing Director Dr. D.K. Rajapakse.
The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion and it will be moderated by Ernst & Young Tax Partner and Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Deputy Vice Chairperson Duminda Hulangamuwa.
The eminent panellists are Gajma & Co. Senior Partner N.R. Gajendran, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Vice Chairperson and Sunshine Holdings PLC Group Managing Director Vish Govindasamy, Department of Inland Revenue Deputy Commissioner General, Tax Policy, Legislation and International Affairs D.R.S. Hapuarachchi, Employers Federation of Ceylon Director General Kanishka Weerasinghe, Brandix Lanka Ltd. Group Finance Director Hasitha Premaratne, Hotels Association of Sri Lanka Past President Srilal Miththapala, Central Bank of Sri Lanka Director Economic Research Dr. Chandranath Amarasekara, and National Development Bank PLC Director/Group Chief Executive Officer Dimantha Seneviratne. The webinar will conclude by vote of thanks delivered by CMA Sri Lanka Vice President H.M. Hennayake Bandara.
