Lecturing sessions were inaugurated for the first batch of students of SATS
Sterling Automobiles Training School (SATS) was opened on 18 August, marking the establishment of the vocational training arm of Sterling Automobiles Lanka Ltd.
The opening ceremony was followed by the inauguration of the first batch of students of the institute. Senior Management of Sterling Automobiles, along with staff members were present at the occasion.
SATS was established according to a concept proposed by the management of Sterling Automobiles.
The training school will initially act as a training school for the technical staff of Sterling Automobiles and the company hopes to open the program to the general public within a span of two years, where any student interested in the field of automobile mechanics or automobile engineering will be given the opportunity to study at SATS and gain a qualification.
Measures are currently underway on the part of Sterling Automobiles to gain the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) status for the courses offered by SATS.
The training course at SATS starts with the Maintenance Technician stage and progresses onto the Certified Technician, Expert Technician, Master Technician and finally the Master Diagnostic Technician stages. Upon the successful completion of each stage, participants will be offered a certificate in recognition of their achievement.
Latest technologies, tools and equipment in the automotive industry will be incorporated into the courses to offer updated knowledge to the students while providing them a hands-on experience with regards to working with advanced automobile tech.
Given that Sterling Automobiles is a company that is equipped with the expertise to offer services to any vehicle model – be it Japanese or European – students of SATS will get a first-hand opportunity of working with various diagnostic and technical tools that are used by world-renowned automakers.
