50 top expert speakers and panellists are lined up to speak at Sri Lanka’s foremost economic event – Sri Lanka Economic Summit (SLES) 2018. This is the 18th consecutive year that the summit is being organised by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, making this a premier forum for economic discussion and one that is not to be missed.

The summit is excited to have KPMG India Chairman and CEO Arun M. Kumar as the keynote speaker. He is a highly accomplished global executive with experience spanning a multitude of experience from policy, technology and analytics to name a few. His experience covers many geographies from India to Silicon Valley. Prior to assuming duties in his present role at KPMG India, Kumar served as the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets and Director General of the US and Foreign Commercial Service in the Obama Administration. He led the trade and investment promotion efforts for the US Government and served as the International Trade Administration’s lead official advocating for better market access for US exporters.

Over the years, he has been a mentor and advisor to a number of new ventures in Silicon Valley and India. He has been a member of advisory councils at Stanford University and the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Kumar’s extensive experience in his travels around the world and engagement with senior Government and business leaders, provides the 2018 SLES an ideal and insightful speaker to kick off the two-day event and speak on the summit theme of, ‘On the Fast Track to a Turnaround”. He will also provide useful insights as a panellist in the first session of the summit, ‘Economic turnaround, How? And When?’.
