KPMG was ranked first for the 12th consecutive year in the 2016/2017 Auditors League, auditing 45 of Sri Lanka’s leading listed entities and nine sector leaders as indicated in the LMD 100, by the independent publisher, Media Services.
Commenting on the achievement, KPMG in Sri Lanka’s Managing Partner Reyaz Mihular stated, “This is an exciting time to be Managing Partner and I am extremely proud of the recognition. It reiterates our unwavering commitment to quality and integrity. We’re continuing to invest in audit capabilities, enhance tools and skills and embrace our culture so that the decisions we make and the work we do leave our clients, society and one another stronger for the future.”
The firm also led in the LMD 100 Auditors League in the previous five financial years and was ranked first in the LMD 50 Auditors League, a previous index by publishers Media Services, for six consecutive years since the inception of the publication.
Highlighting the significance of KPMG’s impact in the marketplace, KPMG in Sri Lanka received a number of accolades including being ranked among the ‘Most Respected’ entities in the country earlier this year and being named as the ‘Tax Firm of the Year’ and ‘Tax Disputes and Litigation Firm of the Year’ by the ‘International Tax Review’ at the Asia Tax Awards 2017.
KPMG’s Partner and Head of Audit Suren Rajakarier stated, “We are proud that KPMG has once again been recognised as a Lead Auditor for Sri Lanka’s listed entities, especially at a time when building public trust and inspiring confidence in the capital market has never been more important. It is also encouraging because this ranking is despite many of our large corporates voluntarily implementing the auditor rotation policy for governance reasons, in the past few years.” He also stated that, “The volatility and complexity of business, advancement in technology and stringent regulations are driving the cost of compliance and it’s very important that all auditors invest in tools and skills to uplift the standard of audits in Sri Lanka.” He added that, “I take this opportunity to congratulate all entities ranked in the LMD 100, including the following sector leaders who have had tremendous success and continue to trust KPMG.” KPMG is continually innovating to bring new digital capabilities to audit, to enhance audit quality and add value for clients. In 2017, KPMG international launched KPMG Clara, new smart audit platform, which is a fundamental transformation in how KPMG audits are carried out.
