Airlines limited to only 75 passengers per flight

All operating airlines have been told to only bring a maximum of 75 passengers per flight by the Government following a spike in COVID-19 cases.

The new directive that comes into effect today follows after some airlines had brought in over 200 passengers in certain flights. The National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak has informed the Civil Aviation Authority of the new limitation.

The centre noted that going by recent records of passengers arriving in Sri Lanka by international airlines, it has been observed that an excessive numbers of passengers are being accommodated and that number has gone beyond even 200 pax for certain airlines.

Considering the COVID-19 situation, the Civil Aviation Authority has been informed to limit the number to 75 passengers maximum. This limit will be enforced for 14 days from today onwards and reviewed thereafter. Yesterday, 48 foreign arrivals had tested positive for COVID-19 whilst total recent cases amount to 298 foreigners.
