Central Bank Governor Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy will be visiting the Northern Province on 6 and 7 October to review the situation of rural level indebtedness with stakeholders in five districts of the province and to discuss the measures and strategies to be taken to overcome the issues as an initial pilot project.
Tomorrow he will meet with Meeting with District Secretaries of five Northern Province districts, Deputy IGP Northern Province, Divisional Secretaries and Planning Directors in Jaffna. An engagement with civil societies in Jaffna will be held as well where representatives from civil societies, all district secretaries, deputy secretaries, planning directors, Sri Lanka Police, rural development societies, agricultural societies, fisheries societies, cooperatives societies, chamber of industries, Non-Government Organisations and other relevant societies in Jaffna.
On Friday, the CB Governor will hold a meeting with civil societies in Kilinochchi including the district secretaries of five Northern Province districts, deputy secretaries, representatives from civil societies, cooperative societies, chamber of industries, NGOs and other societies in five districts,. A meeting with regional managers of all licenced commercial banks, licensed specialised banks, reputed finance and leasing companies, Samurdhi and rural banks will be held as well.
