The Chamber of Construction Industry (CCI) yesterday, in a statement, welcomed the election of the new Government with a strong mandate. Following is the statement issued by CCI Chief Executive Officer and Secretary General Eng. Col. (Rtd). Nissanka N. Wijeratne.
The Chamber of Construction Industry of Sri Lanka conveys best wishes on the massive election victory and welcomes the formation of a new Government with a very strong mandate.
This clear mandate will facilitate the new Government, led by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, to forge ahead on the development agenda promised in the manifesto ‘Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour’ more vigorously.
Indeed the several measures taken by the Government during the COVID-19 lockdown and afterwards to mitigate the adverse health and economic impacts have been fully endorsed by the Sri Lankan electorate.
This mandate will definitely strengthen the hands of the President and Prime Minister to forge ahead with the structural changes necessary to create an investment-friendly climate. During the past, we had lagged behind in attracting investments when compared to many other countries in the region.
We earnestly hope that the new Government will be able to achieve faster development with a strong direction that can be provided with this mandate, in spite of predictions on a global economic downturn affecting even our country.
