With a fresh management team at the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), Telecommunication, Digital Infrastructure and Foreign Employment Minister Harin Fernando expressed confidence in making a remarkable turnaround in the entity to bolster the country’s digital transformation. He said all the financial liabilities the ICTA have right now will be settled by the Ministry in the immediate future.
“The Treasury has released Rs. 1,48 billion to the Ministry to settle the overdue bills of ICTA,” he told the Daily FT. He said, once the internal voucher is ready, money will be transferred to ICTA, which will enable the Ministry to set-off all the liabilities of ICTA.
“The institution is going to have a fresh start with new initiatives being launched to drive the digital transformation in our economy. We are going to see a clear future with the new projects it expects to launch,” the Minister emphasised.
Fernando said he has faith in the newly appointed Directors of the board who are experts in the industry to turnaround the institution. (CdS)
