The Government is set to move a resolution in Parliament next week to alter the limits of the Administrative District of Colombo by the inclusion of the reclaimed area of land known as ‘Port City Colombo’.
The resolution will be moved by the Minister of Internal and Home Affairs Wajira Abeywardana under Section 3 of the Administrative Districts Act No. 22 of 1955 to bring ‘Port City Colombo’ within the area of authority and the limits of the Administrative District of Colombo.
This reclaimed area of land will be annexed to the Divisional Secretary’s Division of Colombo in the Administrative District of Colombo. The area contains land in extent of 446.6153ha, situated according to the plan prepared by the Surveyor General. The Colombo Port and Chaithya Road East will be a connecting point to the boundary of the Colombo Divisional Secretariat Division.
The resolution is listed for debate in Parliament on 24 July.
