Pro Food, Pro Pack & Ag-biz 2019, Sri Lanka’s only comprehensive food, agriculture and packaging exhibition, spanning three days, kicked off yesterday at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Hall. It was inaugurated by Industry and Commerce Ministry Industry Development Additional Secretary S. Balasubramaniam. The exhibition was organised by the Sri Lanka Food Processors Association together with Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services (LECS). The event is supported and endorsed by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The launch was attended by dignitaries and invitees including Sri Lanka Food Processors Association President Sarath Alahakoon. The National Agri Business Council joined hands with the organisers to provide an insight into the agribusiness areas. Over 370 stalls had been allocated for the local and foreign manufacturers, making it the biggest event in the country in relation to the food, beverage, packaging and agriculture sector.
The event was themed ‘From the farm to the fork’, denoting the entire chain of the food industry, which includes the inception of the food which mainly revolves around farms, to the process and finally, the consumer’s table.
