Bleeding gums, the early indication of gum problems

Bleeding gums can be one of the first signs of gum disease that can lead to a tooth loss. Studies show bleeding gums is a global problem with one in every three people suffering from it.

Bleeding gums are easy to recognise because consumers see blood in their toothpaste spit after brushing. It is an easy self-diagnosis. Many consumers believe that blood is evidence of brushing too hard or incorrect brushing. This is reinforced by the belief that the problem is short term and will go away on its own rather than recognition of a chronic condition. Gum problems can be split into two distinct phases; Gingivitis and Periodontitis.
