A total of 177 persons tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday and the country’s total COVID-19 patient count currently stands at 93,772.
The patients detected yesterday include 158 associates of the Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster. The Divulapitiya, Peliyagoda and Prisons triple clusters have expanded to 88,842 patients.
In addition to the triple clusters, the total patient count also includes 2,780 Sri Lankan returnees from abroad, 950 Navy personnel and their contacts, 651 persons linked to the Kandakadu cluster, and 217 foreigners.
At present, 2,476 persons are under medical care, including 125 persons at the Krishnapuram Treatment Centre, 114 persons at the Kopai Treatment Centre, and 88 persons at the Giriulla Treatment Centre. Hospitals are also monitoring 447 persons suspected of having COVID-19.
The Epidemiology Unit states that 145 persons were discharged from hospitals yesterday. This includes 22 persons from the Kopai Treatment Centre, 14 persons from the Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital, and 11 persons from the Kahagolla Treatment Centre. The country’s total COVID-19 recoveries have risen to 90,708.
On Monday, 116 persons from sub-clusters related to the Peliyagoda cluster, 21 persons from the Prisons cluster, 20 Sri Lankan returnees from abroad and two foreign arrivals tested positive for COVID-19.
Of the 159 COVID-19 patients detected on Monday, 56 were from Colombo, 31 were from Ratnapura, 14 were from Gampaha, nine were from Anuradhapura, and six were from Jaffna.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 30,037 persons from Colombo, 18,473 persons from Gampaha, 6,723 persons from Kalutara, 4,212 persons from Kandy, and 2,931 persons from Ratnapura have tested positive for COVID-19 to date.
