Sri Lanka Administrative Service Secretary Special Grade Officer Chinthaka S. Lokuhetti assumed duties yesterday as the new Secretary of the Ministry of International Trade.
He officially took over the role at the Ministry of International Trade located in the West Tower of the World Trade Centre.
State Minister of International Trade Sujeewa Senasinghe graced the occasion and Lokuhetti handed over the official letter through which he acceded to his office to the State Minister.
Lokuhetti started off as a university lecturer and joined the Sri Lanka administration service in 1990 as Assistant Divisional Secretary of Habaraduwa. From 1996-2000 he worked as the Divisional Secretary of Akmeemana, Bope and Poddala, functioning as an exceptional government official who was held in high esteem by the people of the Southern Province.
Lokuhetti obtained his postgraduate qualifications from the United Kingdom from 2000-2001. He then worked as a Senior Consultant of the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration as a Provincial Probation Commissioner and also as the Secretary of several provincial ministries.
He became the Director General of the Treasury in 2016 and worked as the Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce until now.
