An EC official said that the meeting with officials of the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry was to discuss measures that should be put in place in view of the increasing number of persons being confirmed with COVID-19.
“There is no discussion as of now on postponing the election and the EC is going ahead with the arrangements to hold the polls on 25 April,” the official said.
In a related development, the Election Commission said yesterday it will not accept deposits nor nominations papers for the upcoming General Election today, in view of today being declared a public holiday, but will commence doing so on 17, 18 and 19 of March.
