The European Union (EU) noted that the bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and the EU in recent years have grown significantly.
Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Helga Schmid made this observation when she met with the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the European Union Grace Asirwatham in Brussels recently, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said.
During the cordial discussion, Schmid noted the significant growth in bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and the EU in recent years.
it was noted that in addition to the traditional areas of cooperation, new areas such as bilateral cooperation on security, as well as cooperation on multilateral issues, have led to a more comprehensive and inclusive dialogue.
Schmid recalled previous visits to Sri Lanka and expressed keen interest to pay an official visit in the near future, the Ministry said.
