Health authorities yesterday confirmed four COVID-19 deaths, bringing the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 332.
A statement issued by the Department of Government Information clarified that two deaths confirmed on 1 February were repeated in the COVID-19 deaths confirmed the next day, dropping the death toll by two.
According to health authorities, an 89-year-old individual from Walgammulla died of a lung infection associated with COVID-19 at her place of residence on 2 February.
The same day, a 66-year-old individual from Negombo died of trauma of blood poisoning associated with COVID pneumonia and a secondary bacterial infection and kidney disease. The individual tested positive for COVID-19 while receiving treatment at the Negombo District Hospital and was transferred to the Colombo East Base Hospital, where he passed away.
On 1 February, an individual from Devalapola died of lung infection associated with COVID-19, acute diabetes, and epilepsy. She was 67-years-old.
Health authorities also confirmed that a 70-year-old individual from Yatiyanthota died of COVID pneumonia, uncontrollable diabetes, heart disease, and kidney disease.
