Four more COVID-19 deaths bring fatalities to 511

Health authorities yesterday confirmed four more COVID-19 deaths and the country’s COVID-19 death toll currently stands at 511.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information, an 81-year-old individual from Uduvil tested positive for COVID-19 at a private hospital in Colombo and was admitted to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases. However, she died of blood poisoning, COVID-19 and acute diabetes yesterday.

A 57-year-old individual from Akurana was admitted to the Teldeniya Base Hospital after he tested positive for COVID-19 at the Kandy National Hospital. He died of COVID-pneumonia and kidney failure yesterday.

On Monday, an individual from Ragama died at the Colombo East Base Hospital, where he was admitted after testing positive for COVID-19 at the Welisara Chest Hospital. The cause of death is cited as COVID-pneumonia, cancer and acute diabetes. He was 62 years old.

A 76-year-old individual from Horape tested positive for COVID-19 at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka and was transferred to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases. However, he died of an acute stroke, COVID-19, acute diabetes and high blood pressure.
