Malaka Silva, the son of former Minister Mervyn Silva, has been arrested by the Thalangama Police in Thalangama yesterday.
Malaka was arrested in connection with a case of extorting a payment of Rs. 100,000 from a businessman in Wickramasinghapura, Battaramulla, the police said.
The suspect was arrested following a complaint that he had made a death threat to businessman Sandun Malinda Thenuwa, demanding a ransom of Rs. 100,000 for his father’s election campaign.
