The Police have arrested 528 people in the 24 hours from 6 a.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. yesterday for violating the curfew imposed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Police also seized 150 vehicles during this period for traveling without a permit during the curfew.
According to the Police Media Unit, 61,621 persons have been arrested since the islandwide curfew initially imposed at 6 p.m. on 20 March until 6 a.m. yesterday. The Police have seized 17,322 vehicles, including three-wheelers and motorbikes, during this period.
According to the Police Media Unit, 18,496 cases have been filed pertaining to incidents of violation of curfew regulations since 20 March, and 6,991 people have been sentenced.
