President, RW wish UK PM speedy recovery from COVID-19

President says prayers with Johnson and people of UK during trying time
UNP Leader says Johnson’s presence in the frontline in battle against COVID-19 vital for UK and international community
Former Speaker also sends wishes for speedy recovery

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and United National Party (UNP) Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe were among those who sent wishes for a speedy recovery to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson who has been moved to intensive care after contracting COVID-19.

The President in a Twitter message wished the British Prime Minister a speedy recovery, adding, “Our prayers are with you and the people of UK during these trying times.”

The UNP Leader also wished Johnson a speedy recovery and said his presence in the frontline in the battle against COVID-19 was vital for both the UK and the international community.

Former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya also wished the British PM a speedy recovery.

“I join millions of Sri Lankans in their wish for a speedy recovery to the UK’s PM @Boris Johnson. As the leader of a strong democratic nation, he will be much needed by the people of Great Britain. His implicit message to the world is clear: power is no defence against #COVID19,” he said in a Twitter message.
