President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday received the interim report of the Commission appointed to investigate the Easter Day attacks.
He made these remarks addressing at the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) May Day commemoration held at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute in Colombo yesterday.
President Sirisena said that he will discuss the details with the Attorney General today and take necessary action on the matter.
Meanwhile, President’s Media Division (PMD) issuing a statement said that the Special Investigation Committee appointed to probe Easter Sunday terror attacks has recorded statements from several high-ranking State officials including the former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and outgoing Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara.
President Sirisena appointed the committee on 21 April to probe into the series of terror attacks occurred in eight places in the country, where conduct of investigations started on 22 April.
The Committee is headed by Supreme Court Judge Vijith K. Malalgoda and also includes former IGP N.K. Ilangakoon and former Law and Order Ministry Secretary Padamasiri Jayamanne.
