The interim report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to investigate the terrorist attacks on Easter Sunday was handed over to President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa yesterday.
The report has been prepared, including information on the progress of the evidence recorded so far by the Commission and its current status.
Although the interim report was handed over to the President, the proceedings of the Commission will continue as usual.
Former President Maithripala Sirisena appointed the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on September 21st to investigate and report on the Easter Sunday attacks that killed 259 people in a series of suicide bombings in churches and hotels.
The People were given the opportunity to lodge complaints related to the attacks.
The five-member Commission headed by Court of Appeal Judge Janak de Silva comprises Court of Appeal Judge Nissanka Bandula Karunaratna and retired Court of Appeal Judge Nihal Sunil Rajapaksa and retired High Court judge Bandula Kumara Atapattu. Retired Ministry Secretary W.M.M. Adikari and retired Ministry Secretary Chandrani Senaratne will also serve the commission.
