Seven COVID-19 deaths confirmed

Health authorities yesterday confirmed seven COVID-19 deaths, which brought the country’s COVID-19 fatalities to 483.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information, three deaths occurred yesterday and four occurred on Monday.

An individual from Colombo 15 died yesterday while receiving treatment at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka. The cause of death is cited as COVID pneumonia, acute diabetes and high blood pressure. The individual was 78-years-old.

A 63-year-old individual from Pilimathalawa tested positive for COVID-19 at the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital and was admitted to the Teldeniya Base Hospital, where she yesterday died of acute COVID pneumonia, high blood pressure and acute diabetes.

An individual from Galewela tested positive for COVID-19 at the Matale District General Hospital and was admitted to the Teldeniya Base Hospital, where he died of COVID pneumonia and lung cancer yesterday. The individual was 63-years-old.

An 87-year-old individual from Colombo 15 died of COVID pneumonia, acute diabetes, acute kidney infection and high blood pressure on Monday at her place of residence.

The same day, an 89-year-old individual from Colombo-5 died of COVID pneumonia and acute diabetes at her place of residence.

An individual from Piliyandala tested positive for COVID-19 at the Pimbura Base Hospital and was admitted to the Homagama Base Hospital. However, he died of COVID pneumonia and respiratory failure on Monday. He was 73-years-old.

According to health authorities, a 63-year-old individual from Colombo-2 died of COVID pneumonia at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital on Monday.
