Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka visited India to attend the 153rd birth anniversary commemorations of Anagarika Dharmapala, organised by the Mahabodhi Society of India.
During the visit, the renovated premises of the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai were declared open by the Speaker on 16 September. The official ceremony commenced with the National Anthem and lighting of the traditional oil lamp. Government dignitaries, captains of industry, the Sri Lankan community in the States of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa and members of the Sri Lanka armed forces undergoing training in India participated at the event.
During his visit in Mumbai the Speaker was met by Shri Jaykumar Rawal, Minister of Tourism of the Maharashtra Government.
