Senior journalist Sudewa Hettiarachchi has been appointed as the Director General of the President’s Media Division (PMD).
Hettiarachchi, who received the letter of appointment from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday at the Presidential Secretariat, is due to assume duties next week, the PMD said in a statement.
A distinguished alumnus of Ananda College, Colombo, Hettiarachchi is a fully-fledged journalist with extensive experience. With over 25 years in the media field, he is a popular announcer and producer.
He is an efficient administrative officer who has served in the capacities of Assistant Manager, Manager, Assistant General Manager, General Manager, Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), in several leading media institutes.
Hettiarachchi was the Swarnavahini Media Network CEO prior to his new appointment as the PMD Director General.
