The United States Acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs and Acting Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Alice Wells met with President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena yesterday in Colombo.
The U.S. official arrived in Sri Lanka to participate in the second Indian Ocean Conference scheduled to open today at the Temple Trees.
On Friday September 1, Ms. Wells will speak at the Indian Ocean Conference in Colombo, which will bring together high-level officials from around the world to discuss peace, progress, and prosperity in the Indian Ocean region. During her visit to Colombo, Ms. Wells will meet with government officials, business leaders, and civil society representatives to discuss U.S. cooperation in the Indian Ocean region.
U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka Atul Keshap was also present at the meeting with the President.
