Shammi Silva, the re-elected president of Sri Lanka Cricket, said that he would, with his team of office-bearers, expose the people behind all the bad publicity they have received running up to the election.

“We want to erase the bad name of the SLC given by certain people because it is an image recognised worldwide. We have been accused of being corrupt, not performing well etc. Even at the COPE meetings, most of the news that came out of it were misreported. 99% of the events that took place didn’t happen during our time. Give us another one week and we will come out with all the details. Then you can see who the people are behind this mudslinging campaign of SLC,” said Silva, soon after the election yesterday, that was conducted virtually by the Elections Committee because of the present prevailing pandemic.

Silva thanked the membership for electing him uncontested as President and added: “This victory proves the fact that our stakeholders have understood the yeomen service my previous administration has rendered for the development of the game.”

All the office-bearers were elected uncontested. – (ST)
