HSBC Electronic Data Processing Lanka (HSBC EDPL) has been recognised as the Best Exporter under Business Process Management / Knowledge-Based Process Management for 2019/20 and 2020/21 at the 24th Presidential Export Awards.

Thariq Dole, Chief Administrative Officer and Nilanga Dhanushka Kurukulasuriya, Financial Controller accepted the awards on behalf of HSBC EDPL.

A Presidential Export Award is the highest form of recognition given to organisations for their contribution towards the economy of Sri Lanka. Winners are selected by a panel of judges appointed by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), and as selections are based on multiple criteria, securing this award is a considerable achievement for HSBC EDPL.

HSBC Electronic Data Processing Lanka (Pvt) Ltd Sri Lanka (HSBC EDPL) is one of the Global Service Centres (GSC) operating from eight countries which form an integral part of HSBC’s Global Operations. HSBC EDPL commenced operations in April 2004 at World Trade Centre, Colombo 1 and in 2005, moved into their own fit for purpose building in Rajagiriya. Beginning with servicing UK and US banking operations, they have grown to be a comprehensive business services hub supporting customers from 41 markets across North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

 

What they do

HSBC relies on employees in HSBC EDPL to deliver high-quality financial and professional services such as fund administration; processing banking transactions; conducting customer due diligence; screening for financial crime risk; lending operations and carrying out trade transactions for clients around the world. The teams also support colleagues locally as part of human resources, information technology and finance, as well as globally with publishing services for websites, print and cross-media communication projects.

The GSCs process roughly 1.7 trillion customer transactions each year. In 2020, over 13 million of these transactions were done in HSBC EDPL.
