IBSL confers fellow membership on six senior People’s Bankers

Signifying the invaluable contribution made by the officers of the People’s Bank towards shaping the banking and financial services landscape in Sri Lanka, the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL), the apex body that represents the country’s banking sector conferred Fellow Membership on six veteran banking professionals of the People’s Bank at the Institute’s Annual Graduation Ceremony held at the BMICH recently.
This glamorous event which was held under the distinguished patronage of the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Ajith Nivard Cabraal in the company of Guest of Honour, Dr. Sunil Jayantha Navaratne, Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education and several high profile invitees comprising business leaders, industry experts, members of the academia and fellow bankers, witnessed nine senior bankers of the country, out of which six were from the People’s Bank being recognised with the award of highest professional credentials in banking; Fellow Member Status by IBSL – the only accredited professional body in the banking sector that is mandated with the authority to conduct professional banking education and awarding of banking qualifications in Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, six senior officials of the People’s Bank, namely, N.S. Thilakarathna (Chief Internal Auditor), Chandrasiri Fernando (AGM Marketing and Product Development), R.M.S.B. Rathnayake (AGM Central Province), Lalith Withana (Actg. AGM, Inspection and Investigation), Wickrama Narayana (Chief Manager, SME), and Ashoka Pathirana (Senior Manager Inspection and Investigation), were conferred FIB(Sri Lanka) status; a professional credential they richly deserve, amply reflecting their invaluable contribution in the sphere of banking education as resource personnel and the services they have rendered over the years towards strengthening and developing the country’s banking and financial sector.
