Health Ministry launches ‘MyMediccom’ in partnership with Etisalat and Mediccom

Will enable the public to locate medicines through mobile phones

Etisalat Lanka, Mediccom and the Ministry of Health recently launched a joint initiative to enable the public to locate prescription/non-prescription medicine through their mobile phones. By dialling the USSD code #336#, Etisalat customers will be able to retrieve information on all the locations a particular prescription drug is available for purchase and a hotline to get further advice. The ‘MyMediccom’ platform is the first of its kind in Sri Lanka, and is yet another endeavour by Etisalat to provide added convenience for its customers. While the mobile telecom company is the technology platform provider, Mediccom, a pharmaceutical network leader in Sri Lanka, collaborates as the service information provider. On the Minister of Health’s request, further plans are underway to expand the platform to enable customers to additionally check retail prices of prescription medicine.
