Prof. Akio Takahara

Tokyo, Akio Takahara, will be delivering a lecturer on ‘Free and Open Indo-Pacific Vision and Belt and Road Initiative’ at the Department of Economics of the University of Colombo today at 2.30 p.m.

Prof. Takahara received his DPhil from Sussex University and later spent several years as a Visiting Scholar at the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong, the Japanese Embassy in Beijing, Harvard University, Peking University and at the Mercator Institute for China Studies.

The other panellists at the discussion are University of Colombo International Relations Department Head Dr. Maneesha Pasqual and Pathfinder Foundation Director Prof. Admiral Jayanath Colombage. University of Colombo Economics Department Head Prof. Sirimal Abeyratne, while being a panellist, will also be moderating the discussion.

This lecture is organised by the Pathfinder Foundation in collaboration with the Department of Economics and the Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka.

Invitees to the lecture will include, among others, senior academics of the economics and international relations departments, postgraduate students and representatives from select diplomatic missions in Colombo.
