‘Wisdom at our Doorstep’

‘Wisdom at our Doorstep’, a book of collections of parables, tales and proverbs, compiled from various traditions by UK-based Sri Lankan author and Human Rights activist Lukman Harees, was launched at the auditorium of the Hindu College Colombo, recently.

The event was organised by the school’s Learning Centre and a representative gathering of many schools participated. The book has been recommended as “a life treat which will undoubtedly nurture the young and the adult minds alike” according to a review by Hindu College Principal T. P. Parameswaran. It has also been favourably reviewed by the late reputed senior editor and journalist Jayatileke De Silva and D.S. Senanayake College former Principal D.M.D. Dissanayake,.

The keynote address was delivered by Walpola Rahula Institute Chairperson Ven. Galkande Dhammananda Thero on the theme ‘Harmony through Parables’.

Lukman Harees has also authored publications such as ‘Mirage of Dignity in the Highways of Human Progress’ published in the US, ‘Clouding the Crescent in Sri Lanka’ in English and two Sinhala poetic sociological works ‘Thewatha’ and ‘Dhurastha Daknaya’. ‘Wisdom at our Doorstep’ is published by Hameedia My Friend Project.
